After-school initiative for middle and high school students in Southern Illinois with limited access to STEM opportunities in classrooms. By integrating immersive VR experiences with hands-on STEM activities, the program provides engaging learning that builds advanced STEM skills essential for academic success and career readiness.<\/p>\n

  • Tuesdays, 3:30 \u2013 5 pm\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Wednesdays, 3:30 \u2013 5 pm\u00a0\u00a0
    (Both programs will cover the same material.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Starts the week of Feb. 2, 2026<\/li>\n
    • Last meeting the week of April 27, 2026<\/li>\n
    • Program meets 3:30 \u2013 5 pm\n
        \n
      • Drop-off Time: between 3:00 and 3:30 pm<\/li>\n
      • Pick-up Time: between 5:00 and\u00a0 5:30 pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • SIU Carbondale Campus<\/li>\n
        • Neckers Hall, 1st Floor, Room 157<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          Who Can Participate:<\/h5>\n
            \n
          • Middle school students from Carbondale Middle School, DeSoto Middle School, and Murphysboro Middle School<\/li>\n
          • Students from other schools are required contact us to determine their eligibility.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • No prior experience or knowledge is needed<\/li>\n
          • Enrollment is limited to 24 students (12 for Tuesdays and 12 for Wednesdays)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • Funded by an Illinois State Board of Education, After School Program Grant<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              Program Focus:<\/h5>\n

              • Students will be learning how to make their own VR simulations.<\/li>\n
              • Activities will help students enhance their computing abilities, learn basic coding skills, and interact with VR engines.<\/li>\n
              • Hands-on, STEM-based activities will also be included.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
